Palm Springs or Bust!

I have to tell you something....I'm exhausted.  I'm not just tired, I'm discouraged and mentally drained.  My teacher credentialing classes are killer.  I spend a minimum of 5 hours a day (more on weekends) working on assignments.  Teaching is going to be cake compared with this!
Good.  I got that out of my system.  On a happy note I'm going away to Palm Springs Friday and Saturday with my girlfriends.  Yes, I'm stressing because I will have to do some fancy catching up on school stuff when I return but I'm in dire need of a little TLC.  My husband made me promise to go...I think he's ready for a break from me too.
Cute one piece
My new Kate Spade bag will be perfect for my night away in sunny Palm Springs.

Parisian Perfection

I think it's when I'm the busiest and most overwhelmed that I am most likely to daydream about beautiful travel destinations like Paris.  Not just the destination itself but it's influence of beauty and style notwithstanding recent current events; my daydreams edit all of that.  Below are some of my favorite Parisian inspired elements.

Chic Chartreuse

combo DR/ Library love the Chippendale chairs in chartreuse
/whitehaveninteriors.blogspot.com
I got the memo that marsala is the new Pantone color of the year but I was really hoping for a color like chartreuse.  While I don't tend to like walls painted in dominating hues like this, I do love it as an accent.  Nothing could be happier or chicer as we head into spring and summer no matter what your design style may be.
Bronze-lacquered walls set off chartreuse taffeta curtains in the dining room.
the HUNTED INTERIOR what seem's to be the random chartreuse door, it totally makes this area pop!
beautiful color, but I would NEVER be able to deal with teal walls gotta have beautiful white walls...color of whipped cream with all the color as accents in the room.
black white + chartreuse
Chartreuse, off white, antique brown for basement bathroom
Baby-blue Chesterfield sofa? Sign us up.
Love the chairs, chandelier, painted inside of shelving, and pops of color with pillows and artwork. Fixture similar to Robert Abbey Rico chandelier or Ralph Lauren Roark chandelier.
Gray wall color, chartreuse drapes and hot pink chairs...my 3 favorite colors!
As you can see, you don't need to overdose on a color as strong as this one to get major impact.  I want to add a few shots of chartreuse to my bedroom to freshen it up and I'm loving the bath towels as well.
It's Thursday and I am in my first week back in my teaching credential program and my kids have both started basketball practice.  It seems we don't have a minute to call our own for the moment but who has?  A pretty home is always welcoming when life is hectic, so keep it pretty everyone!

Paris on my Mind

via Popsugar
My three week vacation came to an end yesterday, after a weekend spent in Vegas.  My favorite part of the trip, besides the down bedding and ridiculously long massage, was the food.  There really is a lot of great food to be had in that town.  The only bad part was that there just wasn't enough time to eat everywhere I wanted; we had to skip brunch at Bouchon (though I did get my macarons) and I didn't get to try the frozen hot chocolate from Serendipity.  Oh well.  Next time.
I came across this beautiful room on Pinterest.  It reminds me of Paris, although that might just be because I've had Paris on the brain lately.  My parents are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, and my Dad was going to take my Mom to London and Paris, and the Cat and I were going to tag along.  Unfortunately, that trip was canceled before it even got planned, but I still have Paris on the brain!

If It Doesn't Make You Feel Fabulous...

I'm keeping this in mind as I go through my closets to clean out and organize and, of course, make mental notes of what I'm going to "need" this spring!

Frostbeard Studio Candles

I received one of the best gifts this Christmas from my cousin Lisa and husband Luis who are in the process of opening their own store in Memphis.  By the gifts she sent I'm thinking this coffee shop and specialty store, City & State, (City & State Facebook page) is going to be my go-to for gift inspiration and resources.  I really wish I lived closer but I'm hoping a little on-line shopping will also be possible.

These candles by Frostbeard Studio are cleverly cheeky and geeky and they smell amazing!  Check them out:

Trashy Romance Novel -- Book Lovers' Scented Soy Candle -- 8oz jar

I'm sure you will all want one of these candles now--and there are many more options available-- so head over to etsy.com and later over at City & State if you're local, to snap one up and make your home even cooler than, I'm sure, it already is.
