A Bad Morning and A Few Good Pins

Let me tell you, my day hasn't started off well.  I woke up with a major headache and to top it off, Mr Chips (my usually charming dog) decided to jump up on my lap when I wasn't looking;  I happened to have a cup of coffee in hand that he hit from underneath.  Coffee went everywhere and I just washed my couch slipcovers yesterday.  Arggg!
Needless to say, I am doing laundry today.
Also, I am getting the family ready to drive 4 hours to Mammoth for this Labor Day weekend to tent camp with a group of friends.  I know it will be a fun thing for the family to do but I'm already exhausted just getting ready to go.  Wish me luck!
Now for some images that make me very happy.  Here are my favorite things this week.

It's ironic that I include this image because Mr Chips is on my bad side this morning!

I had to include Lauren Bacall because she just recently passed away and was such a chic and classy lady.
So what do you think?  Pretty things right?  I'm already feeling better and maybe Mr Chips, who is pouting right now, will be welcome into my good graces by lunch.
I am off to the store to buy camping food and make cookies.  Honestly, I am a bit nervous about this whole outdoorsy experience.  But it will be good for me, right?
Enjoy your holiday weekend and let me know what your plans are!

Three on Thursday

First of all, I can't believe it is already Thursday!  This week is flying by.  I was out of the classroom yesterday for what turned out to be an amazing training day.  And now it's Thursday.  Crazy!
Today I thought I would bring you three of my current favorites/obsessions.

Three for Thursday

First up is my current favorite lip product by Pixi.  Have you tried this yet?  I got a sample of the coral color in a past Birchbox, and I am in love with how creamy it goes on.  The coral is a beautiful shade, but it has a really strong punch to it, so I use it sparingly.  The nude, which is the one pictured, really has no color at all.  It isn't as nourishing as the coral for some reason, but I still love it.  Bonus- doesn't the packaging remind you of Lauduree?!
Second up are these fingerless gloves by Ralph Lauren.  These need to get into my life right now because I am in love. These, my friends, are what we call leopard perfection.
Last up is something that has been on my wish list for a long, long time- Tieks.  I do not own a pair of these foldable flats, but I intend to, one way or another!  Just about every review I have read raves about how comfortable they are, and how easy to wear.  I want a pair.  Or two or five.  My fingers are crossed to win a gift card in their current contest.
You can also win a trip, but frankly, I just want the shoes!
Here's the link if you'd like a chance to win a $200 Tieks gift card and a trip to some tropical island:

You may be wondering why I would be sharing the link for a contest that I want to win.  It's not generosity, people; I get an extra entry for each person who enters off that link! Just kidding. But I would be happy for you if you won.  I promise

Dior Tribal Earrings

I find that (once again) I am late to a trend I actually love.  These Dior tribal earrings are a bit fantastic.  I say that as someone who doesn't often wear earrings.  Now, these might just be a passing fancy, but I'm going out on a limb and suggesting that these just might become classics.
@Who What Wear - Emma Watson Event: Golden Globes Watson had everyone doing a double take on the red carpet when she turned up in a Dior Haute Couture dress and pants combo, but for us, it was all about the single Dior Mise En Dior Tribal Earring ($410, 212.931.2950).

As much as I love these earrings I can't imagine paying $400 for them.  What a conundrum!
I will more than likely just admire them from a distance.

Fashion Finds: Mango

Last week I posted this outfit that Rebecca found somewhere online.  I love this outfit, and I want to recreate it once fall comes.  And now, thanks to a weekend trip to Santa Monica, I found some pants that are pretty similar and will help me recreate the look.  And bonus- they'r on sale at Mango right now!

I think either pair would help me recreate the look.

Another picture I posted last week was of this Missoni coat.  I adore this look, as well, and again, I found a similar look (on sale!) at Mango.

Granted, the inspiration picture has a coat, and these are dresses, but the style is similar.  I almost snatched one of these up on Sunday, but I decided that it would be just too short for work.  I do adore the dresses, though, and I love the price tag too!
Hope your Tuesday is going well!

The Bouqs Company and Late Summer Entertaining

When The Bouqs Company contacted us about a collaboration I was pretty darn excited.  Those of you who know me personally, or follow this blog, know just how much I love fresh flowers.  You can't get much more fresh and lovely flowers than those from The Bouqs!  Yes, I can get bug eaten roses from my garden or flowers that only last a few days from the grocery store but really, these are farm fresh and arrive at my door exactly when I want them and they are PERFECT.  I chose the marshmallow bouquet  which is a beautiful mix of creamy ranunculus and pink larkspur (my birth flower).  I decided they would be the best addition I could imagine for my armoire cocktail vignette.  Late summer entertaining has been so much fun:  just add glorious flowers, almond champagne and blackberries....and good friends.

I want you to know that I am kicking myself for not ordering the larger deluxe or grande bouquet; I ended up filling this arrangement out a bit with a few small white roses of my own.  Lesson learned.
You just can't beat the quality and convenience of the-bouqs.com

This image shows exactly what I received.  The original bouquet.  Order here for the perfect gift for your favorite hostess or anyone at all.  There are so many beautiful flowers to choose from and you know--take it from me--that they will be the very best quality.

Happy Monday to all of you!  I had a great weekend entertaining friends.  Now it's back to reality, but guess what?  My flowers are still looking gorgeous and waiting to greet me after my long day.

Fall Inspiration: Retro Vibe

image via

This image is from a 2013 Glamour UK photo shoot, and it features a Missoni coat and a killer retro hairstyle that, if my hair was longer, I'd be recreating this fall.
Not that fall is anywhere near here, as we are still experiencing high temps and dry weather.
But it will be here soon enough, and I plan on wearing some retro inspired pieces this fall.
Anyway, before I have to worry about that, I have to worry about this weekend.  We are planning a possible trip to the Huntington Library on Saturday, and we have a brunch to go to in Marina del Rey on Sunday and we might even get to squeeze in a little bit of shopping.  Fingers crossed!
Hope you have a great weekend; any exciting plans?

One Glam Bathroom {Lavender Love}

My favorite thing this week (by far) has been this lovely lavender and gold bathroom over on tiffanyleighinteriordesign.blogspot.com.  The original source is styleathome.com.  I don't think I've seen something this feminine and glamorous in a while and since I have always loved this shade of lavender I think it's perfect.  A girl could spend some serious pampering time in here, don't you think?

I don't know if my husband would be a fan, but come on, I would spend more time in here than he would.
Have a wonderful weekend, friends!

What I Want: Modcloth

Modcloth is having a sale.  And I love a good sale.

Modcloth Sale

These are my top choices, and I love them. I haven't ordered anything from Modcloth in a while; maybe that should change, hmm? Hope you are having a good week. I, admittedly, am not having the most stellar week. Apparently I am allergic to something, we are thinking the new fabric softener I got, and I keep breaking out in hives and rashes. This morning I woke up to not only the rash on my legs, chest, and neck, but with half of my lower face swollen and drooping. Very scary and very annoying. I spent the morning in urgent care, where they gave me a shot and some medicine. My face is slowly getting better, thank goodness. It'll be one more day off of work for me. (Boo and yea at the same time. I'd actually rather be in my classroom with my kiddos!) So anyway, my week is looking up. I hope yours is fantastic!

Wanted: Wide Leg Denim

My week has started off with a bang.  I am subbing in an honors English class all week so I'm super busy. I've been enjoying many wonderful classic movies lately.  I am always inspired by the fashion choices in these old films.  The ladies wear wide leg trousers when whey aren't wearing glamorous gowns and I don't know which is more sophisticated.  I am really lusting after a perfect pair of wide leg denim for the fall.  I haven't yet researched the best pair but I foresee a trip to Nordstom in my near future!

Will you be wearing wide leg denim this fall season?

Vintage Meets Modern

image via
The other day Rebecca posted this on pinterest, and I fell in love with it the instant I saw it.  I think it is perfection.  I mean, come on, how cute is her hair?  And that outfit is amazing.  I love how classic it is, with such a vintage feel, and yet the accessories and shoes keep it current.  Brilliant.
Hope you have a wonderful Monday!
Sorry for totally stealing your pin, Rebecca!

Sarah and Target: Good News and Bad News

I was super excited the other day when I saw that Sarah Richardson had posted to facebook that she will be collaborating with Target on a collection Fall 2015.  I did a major happy dance!  I am chomping at the bit to get my hands on Sarah's new book, Sarah Style, so when I heard this news I was over the moon.  Problem is...it will be a collaboration with Target CA not U.S.A.  Say what!!!  I am so very sad.  Come on U.S!  Get with it.  We want Sarah!
You lucky Canadians, you.
I am holding out hope that some miracle will happen and they will finally bring Sarah back to the U.S.
I am so excited for the weekend!  It was a very busy week and I'm ready to relax with my family.
Hears hoping you all have a relaxing weekend too!
Love to you friends,

What I Want: Orla Kiely

I love looking/drooling over Orla Kiely dresses. They are the exact kinds of fits and styles that I would love to wear to work. I think they are the perfect teacher dresses. If only my teacher's salary could cover the cost of an Orla Kiely wardrobe!

I hope your week is going well. I am exhausted by the time I get home at night; this week is just flying by! I am really enjoying getting to know my new students, but I am also looking forward to a relaxing weekend. Any plans?
